It seems like just yesterday Obama and Hilary were duking it out for the chance to be president of the United States. The two of them flinging insults and criticism over past achievements and public service. Obama especially focusing on Mrs. Clinton's foreign policy experience and her claim of being better suited for that particular side of the presidency. Then to all of our amazament the new president elect chooses her for Secretary of State. Then you have Pelosi off having meetings with the Big 3 Automakers before Obama has a chance too, a republican who ran both the Afhgan and Iraq wars keeping his post, a slew of 'old' Clinton folk regaining positions and the President Elect telling us things are going to get worse before they get better. Suddenly the White House and the new administration are looking like Fast Times at Ridgemont High. With all that effort by Obama to be president of the United States you'd think he would be appointing people with less baggage and less of a chance to challenge his leadership style. I'm not sure if Barack has some brilliant plan going or maybe this is just some slick agenda to keep himself looking good. Put the people you can't stand in positions where they are doomed to have issues and you not only ruin there chances in the next election but they become your scapegoat when things don't get better. It's like, "ok Hilary, here have at it and show us just how good you would have been with foreign relations as president", if you fail it'll just give me ammunition in the next election and I can ask the people to give me another shot at it my way". At times I'm caught between Obama being a closet mafia leader to being an immature over confident fool who just got handed the most important position in the world. Either way the government seems disheveld and out of control at the moment. Hopefully it'll find it's own rythim and the new President will take the lead like he is supposed too. Maybe those in new positions will work so hard at proving themselves that things will actually get better. Who knows, this new kid on the block may just have things figured out after all and a new day is dawning for America. Still, I can't seem to get that picture out of my mind of the moving truck pulling up to the White House, smoke pouring out the back door as the new President and his band of odd balls stare in amazament at their new address....."woo dude, this is awesome, totally awesome".
